Court remands cleric who reportedly lured, slept with sickle cell patient for 5 years
Samuel Onyeagoziri, a cleric in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has been remanded in prison after being charged with rape, threats to life, fraud, and circulation of pornographic materials. The charges stem from allegations by a sickle cell patient who claims Onyeagoziri, under the guise of offering healing, lured her into a five-year sexual relationship. The victim stated that she was convinced that sleeping with the pastor was the only solution to her problems as a sickle cell patient. The victim further alleged that he coerced her into posing for nude photographs and later shared them. The presiding magistrate ordered his remand and directed the case be transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution due to the severity of the charges, which are outside the magistrate court's jurisdiction.
