OSP summons GRA Commissioner-General, 2 other senior officials over SML scandal
The Ghana Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has summoned three senior Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) officials, including Commissioner-General Anthony Sarpong, for questioning in the ongoing corruption probe related to the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) contract. This follows the recent arrest of the GRA's Acting Head of Legal. The OSP is investigating the three officials for allegedly issuing a letter to SML lawyers that contradicted earlier statements to the OSP, potentially influencing legal processes related to the controversial revenue assurance contract. This is the second invitation for questioning for Sarpong and Assistant Commissioner Annan. The GRA–SML contract has been under scrutiny due to allegations of inflated costs and procurement violations, leading to an expanded OSP investigation that now includes senior GRA and Ministry of Finance officials.
