Matawalle Must Voluntarily Resign Or Be Sacked – Shinkafi
Sani Shinkafi, a former Zamfara governorship candidate, is urging President Tinubu to dismiss the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and abolish the Ministry position. Shinkafi cites a resurfaced 2021 video where Matawalle, then Zamfara Governor, appeared to sympathize with bandits, stating "not all of them are criminals." He argues this shows Matawalle is unfit to combat banditry. Shinkafi also points to the potential for conflict between Matawalle and Defence Minister General Musa, who previously served under him. He believes scrapping the Minister of State role would streamline command within the Defence Ministry, giving the senior minister full control over critical areas like maritime security and the Defence Industries Corporation, ultimately improving national security.
