Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) is expected to assume office as the new INEC Chairman next week, succeeding Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, after being sworn in by President Tinubu. INEC officials confirmed to Punch that preparations are underway for his arrival, anticipated before a Federal Executive Council meeting. While the exact date remains unconfirmed, Amupitan's personal staff are reportedly preparing for his takeover. INEC's Director of Voter Education and Publicity confirmed the expectation of his arrival but provided no specific date. Amupitan, a Professor of Law at the University of Jos, was confirmed by the Senate last Thursday following a screening process. National Commissioner, May Agbamuche-Mbu, has been serving as interim Chairman, overseeing Anambra governorship election preparations.
