Biden chooses Senator of California Kamala Harris, a candidate for the vice-presidency

Harris joined Biden in the race in 2020 at a time of unprecedented national crisis.

"I have the great honor to announce that I chose Kamala Harris fearless fighter and one of the top officials of the country as a candidate for the vice presidency," Biden tweeted.

By choosing Harris, a former Biden embraces dela Democratic primary rival.

If elected, Biden would be 78 at his inauguration in January, the oldest man ever to have assumed the presidency.

Rice praised Harris for his selection, calling it "leadeur tenacious and pioneer.

At the time Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau, the deceased son of Biden.
