NASS Okays June 12 As Presidential Day Of Address

On June 12, 2025, Nigeria's National Assembly formally adopted June 12 as the annual Presidential Day of Address. The resolution passed during a special Democracy Day sitting in Abuja, where President Bola Tinubu addressed lawmakers. Senate President Godswill Akpabio presided over the joint session, with the motion proposed by Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas and decided by a voice vote, Akpabio ruling in favor of the motion, and earlier in the week, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele announced plans to introduce legislation to institutionalize the annual address.
