Barker-Vormawor remains in police custody as he fails to secure sureties for bail

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, convener of the Democracy Hub, remains in police custody as he has been unable to secure sureties to meet his bail conditions, police sources have confirmed.

This recent bail decision follows several unsuccessful attempts to secure his release, as both the Accra Circuit Court and High Court had previously denied him bail, citing concerns over his potential to reoffend.

The High Court granted him bail on 16 October 2024, setting the amount at GH¢20,000 with two sureties, but efforts to fulfil the bail terms have so far been unsuccessful.

On Friday, Barker-Vormawor indicated to the police that he"might be able to secure the necessary sureties next week to sign the bail bond..
