Rugby association visits Lagos sports commission DG, showcases achievements, plans
The Nigeria Rugby League Association (NRLA) met with the Lagos State Sports Commission, led by Director General Lekan Fatodu, to showcase achievements, discuss future plans, and explore partnerships to grow rugby league in Lagos. Led by Chairman Abiodun Olawale Cole, the NRLA delegation presented a new national jersey designed by Ugo Mozie and highlighted milestones, including the women's team's historic victory over Ireland at the 2025 World Series. They also submitted a bid to host the Middle East Africa (MEA) Championship in Lagos. Discussions centered on expanding development programs, including introducing rugby league in schools, establishing a national league, and advancing coach education. Fatodu commended the NRLA and assured continued support, marking a significant step toward a long-term partnership to strengthen rugby league in Lagos and Nigeria.
