BREAKING: Bandits kill two community leaders in Katsina
Armed bandits attacked Doguwar Ɗorawa in Katsina State on Tuesday night, killing two influential community elders, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo. Residents reported that the attack, lasting over an hour, involved the slaughter of the victims and abduction of several others. Suspected perpetrators are linked to notorious bandit leaders Idi Abasu Aiki or Kwashen Garuwa. This raid follows a series of violent attacks on Bakori communities, including a separate incident in Layin ‘Yannehu involving livestock rustling, and previous attacks in late October where 43 residents were abducted, despite a state-sponsored peace accord with bandit groups. Local leaders lament the ongoing insecurity, while efforts to reach state and local government officials for comment have been unsuccessful, deepening the frustration of residents displaced by the violence.
