Britain’s Savannah Energy appoints two Nigerians as independent directors
Savannah Energy, a British oil & gas company focused on Africa, appointed two Nigerian professionals, Uyi Akpata and Kehinde Ogunwumiju, as independent directors. This decision aligns with Savannah's succession plan following the retirement of existing board members. Akpata, former PwC Nigeria partner and current Africa oil and gas leader, brings extensive experience in finance and audit and will chair the audit committee. Ogunwumiju, a managing partner at Afe Babalola & Co., offers expertise in legal affairs, including representing NNPC in numerous lawsuits and international disputes. Savannah Energy anticipates that their experience will bolster the company's strategic growth. Both appointments reflect Savannah’s commitment to evolving its board to match its operational priorities.
