Strike: Pay Primary School Teachers ₦70,000 Minimum Wage – Sen Kingibe To FCT Council Chairs
Senator Kingibe has appealed to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Abuja chapter, to end their strike action over unpaid minimum wage, citing the detrimental impact on children's education. She emphasized the crucial role of primary school teachers and urged that their welfare be prioritized. While acknowledging the legitimacy of the teachers' grievances, Kingibe called for dialogue instead of strike action to resolve the wage dispute. She also urged council chairmen to honor their agreement with the union and implement the ₦70,000 minimum wage and other benefits. Kingibe implored the FCTA and relevant authorities to intervene urgently to resolve the situation, emphasizing that education is vital for the nation's development.
