D’Tigress Coach Rena Wakama Joins Chicago Sky Basketball Club In USA
Rena Wakama has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky, joining head coach Tyler Marsh and assistant coaches Courtney Paris and Tanisha Wright. Marsh praised Wakama's winning mindset, work ethic, and success with the Nigerian national team at the Olympics. As head coach of D’Tigress, Wakama led them to their fourth consecutive women’s AfroBasket title and unprecedented success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, including reaching the quarter-finals and historic wins against Australia and Canada. Wakama received the Best Coach award from FIBA for her achievements in Paris. She expressed her enthusiasm to contribute to the Chicago Sky and assist Marsh in realizing his vision for the team. The Sky will begin their 2025 season against the Indiana Fever on May 17.
