NPFL Mandates Stadium Upgrades Ahead Of 2025-2026 Season

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) is mandating that clubs upgrade their stadium infrastructure to meet minimum standards before the start of the new season. Clubs must install and maintain LED floodlights with backup power to ensure uninterrupted night matches, and meet other Grade A infrastructure requirements. Failure to comply with the stadium requirements, as emphasized in the statement by Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, will result in clubs forfeiting their right to host home games. This initiative follows Remo Stars' recent NPFL title win and aims to improve game quality and viewing experience. Sixteen clubs, including Remo Stars, will return to the top flight, while Heartland, Akwa United, Sunshine Stars, and Lobi Stars are relegated, replaced by four promoted teams.
