Former Rivers LG Chairmen Visit Fubara At His Private Residence
Former local government chairmen, led by Ezebunwo Ichemati, visited Governor Fubara to express their support for his administration and the "Rivers First" agenda amidst political challenges. They urged residents to remain united and support Fubara following the Supreme Court's March 18, 2025 ruling, which invalidated the October 5, 2024, local government elections, ending their tenures. This visit occurred after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency the previous week. Governor Fubara had already directed RSIEC to prepare for new council elections on August 9, 2025. The former chairmen offered prayers and called for vigilance to prevent destabilization.
