Court Convicts Three Persons For Vandalising, Stealing Ikeja Electric Equipment

Ikeja Electric lauded the recent convictions of three individuals for vandalizing electricity infrastructure. On May 5th, 2025, Adegbite Jamiu was sentenced to six months in prison by an Ikorodu Magistrate Court for vandalizing a transformer serving the Igboye community, following his guilty plea to charges of conspiracy, unlawful damage, and theft. His arrest was prompted by a community member's report. Furthermore, on May 7th, 2025, the Ogba Magistrate Court in Ikeja sentenced Jeremiah Chukwuemeka and Joshua Udeh to one year each for vandalizing and stealing electricity cables from a transformer in Ikeja GRA. They were arrested on August 15th, 2024, and subsequently charged with conspiracy, stealing, willful damage, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Ikeja Electric's Chief Legal Officer expressed hope these convictions would deter future vandalism and reaffirmed the company's dedication to infrastructure protection.
